Thanks for being curious about Almaville – a small but vibrant ‘mini-suburb’ in a busy pocket of Melbourne. It all started with a conversation with my good friend Alex. At the time, we had both moved into to the same neighbourhood, and were both interested getting to know some neighbours and help foster a greater sense of community in our new local neighbourhood – which we named Almaville! ‘Alma’ means soul in Spanish and ‘ville’ is the French word for town or city. What started as a Facebook group with a couple of neighbours has now grown into an active community of over 1500 members.
Because like Hugh Mackay says it so wisely, ‘it’s not where we live, it’s how we live, that matters’.
If you’d like to create your own version of Almaville in your local neighbourhood , feel free to re-use our flyer (PDF, Word). If you try something, keep us posted on how it goes!
